The village of Zemmer is located between the Kyll Valley and the western edge of the Meulenwald.
Historically, the villages – with the exception of Daufenbach – belong to the area known as the “Fidei”. This name originates from the administration of the former estates of St. Irminen Abbey in Trier by various bailiffs.
The landscape of the Fidei villages is characterised by the red sandstone ridge of the Meulenwald forest. Visitors can discover numerous beautiful viewpoints overlooking the Moselle, the Eifel and the Hunsrück regions, as well as the picturesque Kyll Valley.
The trail starts at the church of Schleidweiler. The route leads along typical Eifel Houses. The path runs along the open terrain before it enters the forest. Past the old sandstone pits, the natural trail leads through an untouched part of the forest down to Daufenbach. The small town even has its own train station. Parallel to the Kyll the path leads over the cycle path to the district Mühlenflürchen. Take a deep breath before climbing the ascend. You will get rewarded with untouched nature with former quarries. The hidden waterfall at the end of this quiet woodland invites you to linger. The last stage will take you across the Eifelsteig, back to Schleidweiler.
Beginning with a beautiful view across the stunning woods of the Meulenwald forest, on sunny days enabling you to seethe highest hills of the Hunsrück next to the Moselle valley, this trail has a lot to offer. Further along, near the western end of Rodt, the breathtaking view reaches from the Kylltal over the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to the softly rising hills of the southern Eifel.
The first 2,5 km of the Fidei tour have a lot in common with the Friedbüsch and the Eifelblick tours. The following 4 km pass along fields and meadows before it leads right into Zemmer. When you can bear the time, a few information panels about natural and historical aspects could be helpful along the way in order to get the full hiking experience.
Welcome to the longest Nordic-Walking Parcour, the “Fideier Höhenweg”. The tour is about 19 km long.
The 5,5 km long path “Friedbüsch” leads on large streets around the so-called “Friedbüsch”. It is possible to combine this tour with other walking paths in the near area. The profile is quit flat and for ambitious hikers. The tour can be used as an extension of the “Keltentour”.
The first half of the path passes alongside the edge of the forest and afterwards leads over dirt roads back to the starting point. Without any notable grade and an altitude difference of 15 m the path provides the best conditions for hikers of any age.
A path full of variety, providing a beautiful view over Schleidweiler and Orenhofen, leading through the forest.
We are glad to welcome you on the Nordic Walking tour Fidei. Enjoy the beauty of nature on seven different courses.
If you want to spoil your palate in a special way, the Denis is the right place for your culinary delights. The Mediterranean ambience and the quiet location in the wooded heights of the Eifel offer a cosy atmosphere.
