Trierweiler

The municipality of Trierweiler, which includes the villages of Trierweiler, Sirzenich, Udelfangen, Fusenich and Neuhaus, has undergone remarkable development over the past 30 years. With more than 4,000 inhabitants, Trierweiler is not only the largest municipality in the Trier-Land collective municipality but also the largest in the district of Trier-Saarburg.

Evidence that the area around Trierweiler was already a popular settlement region in earlier centuries can be found in the Roman and Frankish artefacts discovered in Sirzenich. The small village of Udelfangen is also known far beyond the region for its sandstone, which was used, among other projects, in the construction of the Reichstag building in Berlin and the reconstruction of the Church of Our Lady (Liebfrauenkirche) in Trier.

The surrounding villages offer numerous circular hiking trails for walkers, hikers and nature lovers. The information board in Trierweiler provides a useful overview of the various routes and points of interest.
