This trail also lies within the european nature reserve ´Manternacher Fiels´, known for its unique canyon forest, which is the largest one in all of Germany.

However, this trail deals with all kinds of different topics concerning nature conservation, for example meadow orchids being an important environment, or the extensive pasturing such as Highland Cattle or Galloways. The subject concerning matured timber or deadwood, representing an important feature regarding the preservation of the diversity of species, is also very important.

    The loop trail starts at the town hall in Fusenich. From there you walk through the lovely town towards Trierweiler. The path leads up through a quiet residential area towards the motorway. Along the ridge, with a view over wide meadows, you reach the viewpoint "auf der First". Shortly after the ridge the way leads down to Gelbach. The way leads back to the starting point through an adventurous forest.
