The municipality of Ralingen consists of the villages of Ralingen, Wintersdorf, Godendorf, Edingen, Olk and Kersch.
While the latter two villages are situated on the ridge between the River Sauer and the B51 federal road, the others are located along one of the most picturesque stretches of the River Sauer, which forms the border between Germany and Luxembourg.
The close relationship with neighbouring Luxembourg has deep historical roots. Ralingen, Wintersdorf, Godendorf and Edingen were once part of the Lordship of Rosport in present-day Luxembourg. These strong cross-border ties continue to this day and are reflected in numerous joint projects, including the International Leisure, Sports and Cultural Centre Ralingen–Rosport. Ralingen is also part of the German-Luxembourg Nature Park, which extends across large areas of Luxembourg.
The region is renowned for its outstanding natural beauty, characterised by extensive forests, peaceful valleys, and striking rock formations with dramatic gorges, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts.
